BODIES ... THE EXHIBITION
GETS UNDER YOUR SKIN

by Jonathan Williams
From the May 2006 issue of Prick Magazine.

Unless you're a medical professional, chances are you've never seen the inside of an actual human body. But thanks to this unique exhibit, anyone with a curiosity for how our bodies function can see preserved human corpses in poses such as playing basketball and directing an orchestra. Overall, there are 21 whole-body specimens and more than 250 parts ranging from brains to entire nervous systems on display. While the idea of walking through rooms filled with dead people might seem a little macabre, this intelligent and tasteful approach is more about informing the viewer than grossing him out. And despite controversy, Bodies has drawn record-breaking crowds in Tampa and New York City and the recent Atlanta opening is already getting plenty of attention.

Bodies ... The Exhibition will be on display at the Museum of Science & Industry in Tampa, Fla. through Sept. 4, the South Street Seaport Exhibition Centre in New York City through May 14 and the Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, Ga. through Sept. 4.
